Dave Thompson, APR
Dave Thompson spent 20 years as a TV News reporter/producer/anchor followed by 20 more as a public relations executive and spokesperson for a variety of companies and industries, including Director of Corporate Communications for a pre-IPO angel-invested startup. Dave’s mastery of crisis communications came during his tenure as the Public Information Officer and supervisor for the Oregon Department of Transportation, where crises and tough questions occurred daily.
Dave focuses on strategic planning, crisis preparation and response, and media training. Dave has presented his series of classes on how to be interviewed to hundreds of people, including four PRSA, IABC and IAP2 chapters, three national conferences and a number of Oregon and Washington city and county government agencies. Dave provided media training to Oregon’s state executive leadership training program for the past decade. Dave has co-taught FEMA’s G-290/291 Basic Public Information Officer three-day course to about 1,000 government spokespeople over the last ten years.
Dave lives in Lake Oswego, Oregon where he churns out an impressive number of Sudoku puzzle books titled, Missing Letter, Hidden Words.
